The Effects of Job-seeking Stress of Health College Students on Their Suicidal Ideation - Mediating Effects of Depression -

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to identify the mediating effects of depression in the relationship between job-seeking stress and suicidal ideation of health college students. For this purpose, questionnaire were distributed from May 15 to 20, 2017. with 230 students from one university in J area. The analysis result is as follows: First, as a result of analyzing job-seeking stress according to general characteristics, college satisfaction were confirmed to be statistically significant relevant elements. In depression, religion, economic level, and school satisfaction were statistically significant. Second, job-seeking stress of health college students had a positive(+) effect on suicide ideation. depression had a positive(+) effect on suicide ideation. Third, there was a partial mediating effect of depression between job-seeking stress and suicide ideation. Based on the research result, it is necessary that the strengthening employment programs for health college students in depression and suicidal thoughts are implemented.
